Summer Day and everything associated with it was the theme of one of the last lessons of the 2025/2026 school year. From the very start of the morning, the summer mood was set by colourful Hawaiian flowers and a holiday photo booth, in which pupils, and teachers too, posed with a frame reading ‘Lato’ (Summer) and large ice-cream cones.
Then it was time for some quick revision and exercises. Pupils solved tasks on the interactive whiteboard, played educational board games and completed summer-themed worksheets.
To finish, each pupil decorated and assembled their own colourful pinwheel. There was plenty of creative work, smiles and fun. A paper pinwheel is made from a square sheet of paper cut from the corners towards the centre: every other corner is folded into the middle and fixed to a stick. This activity develops precision and manual dexterity, and the finished toy can be tried out straight away.
Astronomical summer begins on the day of the summer solstice, around 21 June, when the day in the Northern Hemisphere is the longest of the year. In Polish tradition, this time is associated with Noc Kupały (Kupala Night), also called sobótka – a festival of fire, water and sun, celebrated on the shortest night of the year.
This was how the penultimate lesson of the school year went – in a joyful, summery atmosphere. More photos from the lesson can be seen in the gallery.
