Our school. Shared rules.

Rights, duties and the organisation of school life — all in one place. Choose a topic or read the regulations step by step.

Rights and duties of pupils

The right to a good start

A pupil has the right to:

  • a proper and well-organised learning process.
  • pastoral care and conditions at school that ensure safety, protection from all forms of physical or psychological violence, and protection of and respect for their dignity.
  • kind treatment as an individual in their own right in the process of teaching and upbringing.
  • freedom to express their thoughts and beliefs, in particular concerning school life, as well as their worldview and religious beliefs, provided that this does not infringe the well-being of others.
  • objective and transparent assessment of their progress in learning.
  • help in the event of learning difficulties.

Everyday responsibility

A pupil has a duty to:

  • arrive at lessons punctually.
  • bring textbooks and school equipment to lessons.
  • take part regularly and actively in lessons and in the life of the school (school assemblies and celebrations).
  • complete classwork and homework.
  • observe the rules of courteous conduct, and refrain from aggression and violence towards fellow pupils, teachers and other school staff.
  • communicate in Polish while at school, to the best of their ability.
  • take responsibility for their own life and health.
  • take responsibility for the common good, order and tidiness at school.
  • switch off their mobile phone during school lessons.
  • eat only during the snack break, in the place designated for this purpose.

Duties of Parents

Parents are obliged to:

  • read and accept the School Statute and School Regulations.
  • send their children to school regularly and punctually.
  • monitor their child’s progress in learning regularly.
  • help with homework.
  • attend school meetings.
  • explain absences and late arrivals.
  • pay school fees by the set deadline.
  • collect their children punctually after lessons.

Rewards

We value commitment

A pupil may be rewarded for:

  • diligent study, exemplary behaviour and outstanding achievements.
  • work for the benefit of the school.
  • representing the school in competitions.

Forms of recognition

The school provides the following rewards for pupils:

  • praise from the class teacher in front of the class.
  • praise from the Headteacher in front of the whole school community.
  • book prizes, vouchers.
  • certificates.
  • letters of congratulation to parents.

Sanctions

A pupil may be sanctioned for any act of verbal or physical aggression, including the use of offensive language, for disrupting lessons and for leaving the school premises.

The school provides the following sanctions:

  1. a warning from the teacher.
  2. parents being called in.
  3. a meeting with the Headteacher.
  4. temporary suspension of pupil rights (exclusion from 2 consecutive school Saturdays – without refund).
  5. removal from the school (after 3 suspensions of pupil rights – without refund).

Parent duty rota

  1. Each family is required to carry out 3 duties per school year.

  2. Teachers, teaching assistants, members of the Parents’ Committee, the administrator, the treasurer and those working in the library are exempt from duties.

  3. Duty dates are set by the person supervising the parent duty rota or by the Headteacher.

  4. Parents are informed of the dates of their duties at least two weeks in advance.

  5. Every parent has a duty to check the ‘information for parents’, which is regularly published on the school website and sent by e-mail by the teachers, and in which duty dates are given.

  6. Only in exceptional circumstances may a parent fail to attend a duty, but they must inform the Headteacher or the school administrator by e-mail or telephone no later than 24 hours before the duty begins, and carry out the duty on another date set by the Headteacher.

  7. Parents may replace a duty with a payment of £20 by informing the Headteacher or the Administrator in writing at least two weeks before the scheduled duty. This gives the school time to arrange a replacement if necessary.
