Class B2's lessons in June 2026 began with a conversation about the fascinating world of the seasons. Together, the pupils explored why we see the seasons change over the course of a year and what gives each season its unique character. The children eagerly shared their observations of changes in nature – from the stillness of winter, through life awakening in spring, to sunny, cheerful summer.

The seasons follow one another because the Earth's axis is tilted relative to the plane of its orbit: as the Earth travels round the Sun, each hemisphere receives more light for part of the year and less for the rest. In June the days in the Northern Hemisphere are the longest of the year.

Summer worksheets

Later in the lessons the pupils consolidated their knowledge by completing a variety of tasks on worksheets. Summer words appeared in their exercise books – ‘lato’ (summer), ‘wakacje’ (holidays), ‘lody’ (ice cream), ‘plaża’ (beach), ‘jezioro’ (lake), ‘rower’ (bike) – as well as word searches and exercises in which pictures had to be coloured in according to a description.

A picnic to welcome summer

After the learning part came the most eagerly awaited moment of the day. If you are going to welcome summer, it has to be with a picnic – and that is exactly what class B2 did. The whole class went outside into the sunshine, and the atmosphere quickly took on a holiday feel. On the table there was colourful, juicy fruit, including watermelon and oranges, and refreshing juices. The pupils put on Hawaiian flower garlands, colourful skirts and straw hats, and feasting together on the blankets became a chance to chat and bond.

It was a day full of knowledge and smiles, a reminder that learning can go beautifully hand in hand with the joy of celebrating together. More photos from the picnic can be seen in the gallery.
