Dear Parents,

Last Saturday we held a collection for Children In Need. We raised £273.07. A heartfelt thank you to the children and parents for taking part!

This Saturday, 24 November, at 12:35 in the Pre-school Room, the first music and movement (eurhythmics) session will take place. It will be an open session, so on this occasion we ask parents to collect their children at 12:30 and bring them to the classroom where the session with Ms Joanna Strembicka will take place. The exception is children in Pre-school. Parents of Pre-school children taking part in music and movement do not need to come for their children when their lessons with the form teacher finish. It is enough to come after the music and movement session, which will end at 13:10.

I am also pleased to announce that our school is starting to work with a speech and language therapist. Below you will find a message from Ms Anna Jamrozik; I encourage you to read it.

Dear Parents

My name is Anna Jamrozik. I am a speech and language therapist, a special educational needs teacher (specialising in intellectual disabilities) and a neuro-speech therapist. If anything worries you about your child's speech development or behaviour, don't delay. I invite you to meet me on 24 November at 9:00 (Saturday) at our school (Theatre Hall). I will talk about prevention, typical speech development and the most common difficulties that appear in children's speech. I will also explain how speech therapy is organised, i.e. how a child at our school can be referred to the speech therapist.

Remember! It is better to see a specialist and hear that everything is fine than to ignore a problem and so expose your child to difficulties later on.

On 1 December St Nicholas will visit our school. The visit will be organised by the Parents' Committee. We ask parents to pay £4 towards a Christmas present for the children over the next two Saturdays, to the ladies working in the library.

On 8 December our school will hold its Festive Day. Parents interested in booking a stall and selling their goods are asked to contact the Chair of the Parents' Committee, Ms Dominika Gawaluch.

Parents who would like to help us on Festive Day are kindly asked to bring cakes, gingerbread or other treats that we could sell at the fair. The more cakes, the tastier!!! The better!!

And one more important message. In connection with the fire procedures approved on 17 November 2018 by Purley Oaks Primary School, parents wishing to enter the school premises (including parents on duty) after taking their children to their classrooms must enter the school via the Main Entrance (next to the Theatre Hall). This means leaving the playground and walking round to the school along Bynes Road. Everyone entering the school must sign the Visitors' Book, noting their time of arrival and then the time they leave the school. We are required by the UK government to introduce such procedures. Those interested are referred to The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (officially listed as The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 S.I. 2005 No. 1541 )

Thank you to all parents who conscientiously carry out their duties. On 24/11, parents of pupils in classes B2 and C1 are on duty, and on 1/12, parents of pupils in classes C2 and G

With warm regards

Irena Kukuła, Headteacher
