Dear Parents,

Thank you very much for joining in our First Day of Summer event. All the items collected will go towards the tombola on 7 July.

A reminder that library books must be returned, and that this Saturday's duty falls to the parents of pupils in classes Z2 and Z3.

Below you will find information about the trip on 23 June. Please read it carefully.

  1. Meeting point and time:

St Elpheges Church car park, 120 Stafford Road, Wallington SM6 9AY

Please note that the trip does not depart from Purley Oaks Primary School!!

For the children's safety, and because of the number of coaches going on the trip, departure will be from the car park of St Elpheges Church. Our school and St Elpheges parish are 3 miles apart, about 10 minutes by car. Please check your route. You may not park or leave your car on St. Elpheges parish grounds for the duration of the trip. The car park is run by a private company that issues heavy fines to people parking there who do not belong to the parish. Please find alternative parking.

Meet at 8:15, departure at 8:30.

  1. Place and expected time of return from the trip:

St Elpheges Church car park, 120 Stafford Road, Wallington SM6 9AY – at about 16:00

  1. Address of the destination and contact phone number: Tilgate Park, Crawley, RH10 5PQ tel: 07587743423 or 07427547020. At the end of the trip, parents are required to collect their children at the designated place and time. If a child is to be collected by someone else, the parent must inform the class teacher or the Headteacher of this in writing.

Please bring:

– A packed lunch and still water. Please do not give children any sugary fizzy drinks for the trip (such as Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Fanta etc.). Tissues, preferably wet wipes.

– If your child suffers from travel sickness, please provide plastic bags and suitable medication for the trip and the journey home, and give the medication at home half an hour before travelling. Please also let us know in advance which children have problems travelling by coach.

– The terms of our contract with the coach company state that eating on the coach is not allowed. We therefore ask that children eat a light breakfast at home before departure. On the day of the trip, please also do not give children eggs, cheese spreads or other dairy products.

– Depending on the weather, children should be suitably dressed and, if it is hot, should also have a sun hat. Please put sports shoes on your children, e.g. trainers. On arrival, before getting off the coach, the children will receive school vests bearing the school logo. Children must wear them throughout the trip.

– Children may bring picnic blankets (preferably labelled, or ones they will recognise as their own). They may bring a small soft ball (sponge football ball), a skipping rope etc.

– The school accepts no responsibility for pupils' electronic equipment (games, consoles, phones) that is lost or damaged. Children have such items with their parents' knowledge and consent and at their parents' risk.

The children will travel on six coaches operated by Edward Thomas&Son.

Travel is insured by the coach operators. Insurance for the time spent at the destination is covered by our school policy, which parents may inspect on request.

You will receive information on which classes are allocated to which coaches in a separate email.

If you have any questions, please contact me or your child's class teacher.
