Dear Parents,

A reminder that, because of the Coronation, there will be no classes at school on 6 May.

Duties:

13 May – parents of pupils in class A

20 May – Zerówka and A-level

We ask everyone who would like to ‘make up’ or swap their duty to choose 13 May. On that day we have the parents of just one class, so it's all hands on deck! Every adult will be a great help to us!

PLEASE NOTE. And now a question: how is acquiring knowledge or language skills different from doing sport? ……………………………………………………………………………. We think probably not at all. You have to start from zero and move forward slowly but steadily.

Last week one of our teachers proudly told us that she intends to run a half marathon in the autumn. She has never done it before. In fact, she has very little to do with running at all. She will be starting from ZERO. And do you know what? This admission of weakness, paradoxically, made others who are just as unfit want to join in. So I thought that perhaps there might be parents who would also like to join us? Together we can show our pupils that it can be done – from zero to hero?

From jogging for 3 minutes to a half marathon?

From coming to school wanting to learn Polish to the moment when you understand it? Speak, read and write it? Understand all that grammar and spelling. Children need role models. Thanks to us, they can learn that strength of character, self-discipline and a clear goal bring tangible rewards. We want to create a group that supports one another, trains individually and will run – solo, but also, in a way, as a teacher/parent of Polish School Croydon.

At the moment there are five of us. From time to time we will let you know how our preparations are going. We encourage you to follow our page: https://www.facebook.com/PolskaSzkolaCroydon/

We also encourage you to get in touch with our school and join us. You can find out more about the event we are preparing for here: https://run-fest.com/events/richmond-half-marathon/

With warm regards

Irena Kukuła, Headteacher
