Our school art competition about Frederic Chopin has been decided. The places on the podium were chosen by the public, and – in line with the competition rules – the likes were counted on 22 March 2025, at the close of the competition.
The public vote
The number of entries took the organisers by surprise. Each one was unique, full of passion and inspiration, so choosing the best proved impossible and the decision was entrusted to the audience. Voting ran until Friday 21 March 2025, and the three entries with the most votes were to receive cash prizes, funded among others by Mr and Mrs Łowczecki, whom we warmly thank for their support and generosity.
The winners
- 1st place: a pupil from class B2 – 341 votes,
- 2nd place: a student from class GCSE A – 281 votes,
- 3rd place: a pupil from class G – 226 votes.
The prize-giving is planned for 26 April 2025, next term, during the Book Day celebrations.
Chopin through our pupils’ eyes
The subject of the competition is also the patron of our school. Frederic Chopin was born in 1810 in Żelazowa Wola and died in 1849 in Paris; his mazurkas and polonaises forever linked Romantic music with Polish tradition. Traces of his life story can be found in the entries: alongside portraits of the composer there were piano keyboards, the manor house in Żelazowa Wola, the Eiffel Tower and the colours of Poland and France – the two countries his life was bound up with. The entrants used a variety of techniques: from pencil and crayon drawings, through paints and felt-tip pens, to collages and tissue-paper work.
Congratulations to the winners, and thank you to all the participants – their creativity and commitment exceeded our wildest expectations. The competition entries can be seen in the gallery.
