We are delighted to announce the results of the A-level exams taken in 2025 by students of the Frederic Chopin Polish Saturday School in South Croydon. The results are outstanding. According to the figures as of the date this post was published, 15 August 2025, they are as follows:

  • grade A* – 5 students,
  • grade A – 6 students.

We are still waiting to hear from two students, but we are confident that their results are just as good.

The two highest grades on the A-level scale

A-level exams mark the end of secondary education in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and their results form the basis of university admissions. In 2025, they were published on 14 August. Grades are awarded on a scale from A* to E. The highest of these, A*, was introduced in 2010 to recognise work of an exceptionally high standard. All the results that students had reported to the school by the date of publication therefore fall within the two highest grades on this scale. In the UCAS tariff, used for admission to UK universities, an A* is worth 56 points and an A is worth 48.

A success for students and teachers

An A* or A at A-level shows a very good command of the material, the ability to analyse independently and mature expression. For young people growing up in the UK who study at a Polish school on Saturdays alongside their everyday education at a British school, such good results are the fruit of many years of steady work. They are also thanks to the teachers who prepared the students for their exams.

Our heartfelt congratulations to everyone – students and teachers alike!
