Good morning,

A warm welcome back to parents and pupils after the summer break. We hope you are looking forward to the new school year with as much joy and impatience as we are! For the first time in a new, large and beautiful school! As a reminder, the school’s address is Purley Oaks Primary School, Bynes Road, CR20PY, South Croydon.

We will all meet at school on Saturday 16 September at 9:00 on the school’s main inner playground. Lessons will run as normal on that day and will finish at 12:30. Please make sure your children have lunch and water with them.

The entrance to the school will be signposted. It is located next to the entrance to the school car park (the main entrance gate to the school). We would also remind you that the school car park is for school staff only and that the road around the school is one-way.

After a short welcome from the Headteacher, the class teachers, children and parents of all classes will go to their classrooms for an information meeting. At 9:45 there will be a meeting for parents with the Headteacher in the Gym/Dining Area. At the meeting you will also be able to talk to the leaders of the extra-curricular clubs and enrol your children if you decide on these activities.

After lessons, at 12:45, an organisational meeting for parents of children preparing for First Holy Communion will be held in classroom B2 (entrance from the school’s main playground). We kindly ask all parents who have enrolled their child, or who would still like to do so, to attend.

Fees for extra-curricular activities are collected by the club leaders. Payment is required in advance for each term. All extra-curricular activities are run by professionally qualified people holding a DBS check certificate.

Depending on the activity, extra-curricular sessions for enrolled children start at around 12:40–12:45 and finish at around 13:30–13:45. Details are available from the instructors.

The school also offers consultations and support from a psychologist – Ms Ewa Szumna from the Stowarzyszenie Polskich Psychologów w Wielkiej Brytanii (Polish Psychologists’ Association in Great Britain). Ms Ewa will be available at our school on designated Saturdays. The schedule will be available soon.

I would also remind you of the OBLIGATION for parents/carers to complete school duties. These were set out at the General Meeting of the School Council and are included in the School Regulations.

  1. Each family is required to complete 3 duties per school year. 2. Teachers, assistants, members of the Parents’ Committee, the administrator, the treasurer and library staff are exempt from duties. 3. Duty dates are set by the person supervising the parent duty rota or by the Headteacher. 4. Parents are informed of their duty dates at least two weeks in advance (the beginning of the school year may be an exception). 5. Every parent is required to check the ‘information for parents’, which is published regularly on the school website and sent by e-mail by teachers, and which gives the duty dates.

  2. Only in exceptional circumstances may a parent not attend a duty, but they must inform the Headteacher or the school administrator by e-mail or telephone at least 24 hours before the duty is due to start, and complete the duty on another date set by the Headteacher. Headteacher – psscroydon.kukula@gmail.com or i.kukula@polskaszkolacroydon.com Tel: 07587 743 423 Administrator: administrator@polskaszkolacroydon.com Tel: 07427547020 7. If a family fails to complete a duty, the school imposes a penalty of £50 for each missed duty. 8. The family must pay the penalty within two weeks of the date of the missed duty. 9. Failure to pay the penalty for a missed duty on time will be treated in the same way as non-payment of school fees and may result in the child/children being removed from the school roll
