One of the teachers who teach our A-level class attended the launch of a new A-level textbook. The event took place at the Polish University Abroad (Polski Uniwersytet na Obczyźnie, PUNO) in London.

It was an inspiring meeting with the authors of the publication and other teachers of Polish. The day was filled with interesting conversations, sharing experience and looking for new ideas for working with young people.

For students growing up in the UK, the A-level exam in Polish is a full qualification that they can use when applying to university. By passing it, students show that they can not only converse fluently in Polish but also analyse texts and form their own opinions. Preparing for the exam involves working with literature and texts on social and cultural topics, as well as developing the skills of argument and writing in Polish. A well-designed textbook organises this material and makes the work easier for teachers and students alike. At our school, the GCSE and A-level classes are the culmination of many years of learning Polish, which is why every new, carefully prepared teaching resource matters so much to us.

The Polish University Abroad is one of the oldest Polish academic institutions operating in exile. Meetings such as this allow teachers to get to know new publications, talk to their authors and share experience with teachers from other schools. For the team teaching our exam preparation classes, it is a valuable opportunity to look at their own work from a new perspective.

Thank you to our hosts for their warm welcome and wonderful atmosphere.
