Our school welcomed some very special guests: real górale, the Polish highlanders. Meeting them was a beautiful, moving and enriching lesson, from which the pupils took away a wealth of knowledge about the highlanders and Poland's mountains, and the fun carried on from the Theatre Hall into the classrooms. The photos show a map of Poland, a highlander's hat decorated with shells, elements of folk costume, as well as soft toy animals and paper artwork featuring a mountain landscape. The górale are the inhabitants of the Polish Carpathians – including Podhale at the foot of the Tatra Mountains – and are known for their own dialect, music and richly decorated costumes.
