Dear Parents

I am sorry to inform you that last Saturday we managed to gather seven parents on duty. This number also includes parents who were not on duty but decided to stay and help us. Unfortunately, seven people are not enough to keep the children safe in the school corridors during lessons, during breaks, at lunch and while playing in the school playgrounds. Under our safety procedures, and given the number of pupils at the school (320), a minimum of 15 parents on duty were needed on 12 January. We therefore took the difficult decision to cancel classes.

I would just like to remind you that when you enrolled your child at our school, you committed to attending three duties during the school year. The duty rota was sent to you in September, and in addition I send a reminder two weeks before each duty. The school regulations provide for penalties for avoiding duties, including removing the child from the school roll.

This Saturday at 9:00 I will be available to you in the Theatre Hall to discuss this matter. I invite all parents to the meeting.

Also in the Theatre Hall, on Saturday 19 January at 12:30, there will be a meeting with Prince Jan Żyliński. As I wrote in my two previous messages, this ‘meeting’ is out of the ordinary, noteworthy and well worth attending. We warmly encourage and invite you to take part.

On Saturday you will receive your child's progress report. If you have any questions or anything is unclear, please contact your child's class teacher.

On 26 January our school will hold a Carnival Day. The youngest children from the Pre-school, the Zerówka classes and classes A will have a carnival ball with an entertainer during the first lesson. Please ask your children to dress up in their favourite costumes or outfits. For classes B–I we are planning a class cinema session.

I would remind you that a neurologopaedist (speech and language therapist) and a psychologist from Stowarzyszenie Polskich Psychologów w Wielkiej Brytanii (the Polish Psychologists' Association in Great Britain) are available at the school. Contact:

Speech therapist, Ms Anna Jamrozik telephone: 07713 670710, e-mail: annajamrozik5@wp.pl Psychologist, Ms Kaja Adamczewska: k.adamczewska@polishpsychologists.org

This Saturday the parents of pupils in classes Z1 and I are on duty, and on 26 January the parents of pupils in classes Z2 and D2. Please be there so that we can keep the children safe and run lessons.

Warm regards

Irena Kukuła Headteacher
