Dear Parents,
On 4 February, parents of class F pupils are on duty. As yours is the only class on duty, we kindly ask all of you to attend. Without your help, we cannot keep the pupils safe.
25 February – parents of pupils in classes A and E1 are on duty.
There's a lot going on!
Last Saturday our youngest pupils had fun at the carnival ball. A huge thank you to everyone! Special thanks to the Parents' Committee for organising refreshments for the children and for tidying up the Theatre Hall. And there was plenty to tidy!!
This Saturday, as part of Book Day, our pupils will meet the author Mr Wojciech Filaber. After the meeting, children will be able to buy books, colouring books, puzzles and magnets, and ask for an autograph. If they wish, they may also come to school on Saturday dressed as their favourite character from a fairy tale or film.
I am delighted to share that our school has taken part for the first time in the ‘Miś Wojtek’ (Wojtek the Bear) Polish Diaspora Board Game Tournament. Teams from all over the world take part. We are very proud that as many as three of our teams:
-
Podwójna Ententa: Iwo L. – GCSE1, Zofia A – class F
-
Orliki: Oskar W – class F, Józef Z. – class F
-
Diamentowy Orzeł – Dawid W – class D1, Leon Z – class C
have qualified for the final, which will take place in May in Warsaw.
This means that our pupils will spend almost a week in Poland, fully funded by the IPN (Institute of National Remembrance), together with 80 players and 40 teachers and supervisors from around the world. As well as the trip to the finals in Poland, attractive and valuable prizes await the winners. Here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E6-mEP5WJRA you can see what last year's finals looked like.
The children are preparing under the guidance of Mr Piotr Kośla and Mr Marek Zjawiony in the Players' Club. The Club currently has 16 children. Huge congratulations – we are keeping our fingers crossed for further success!
We have one more surprise. Ms Iza Kośla, the teacher who prepares pupils for the GCSE Polish exams, gave an interview to the Polska Akademia Nauk Społecznych i Humanistycznych (Polish Academy of Social Sciences and Humanities) as part of the 4th International Day of Polish Diaspora Education. You can listen to the interview with Ms Iza here:
We particularly recommend it to parents of pupils in the GCSE classes.
We are super proud, because we keep getting better. For OUR PUPILS.
With warmest regards
Irena Kukuła Headteacher
