Appeal for help for the town of Głuchołazy
In recent days we have all witnessed the tragedy unfolding in western Poland – a flood that is destroying property and taking away people's dreams, and sometimes even their lives.
As a school, we would like to help everyone affected. We have already published a link to the fundraiser ‘Polacy z Wielkiej Brytanii dla powodzian’ (Poles in Great Britain for flood victims).
Unfortunately, we cannot help everyone, but we would like to support one town of our choosing. We have chosen Głuchołazy – a town that took the brunt of a huge wave of water and paid for it with enormous devastation. Our school assistant, Ms Iwona Aksamit, comes from Głuchołazy, and many of our teachers, assistants and parents also come from the surrounding area.
We kindly ask for your generous support for Głuchołazy – we will be collecting money all day this coming Saturday: before and after lessons in the playground and at the gates, in the school tuck shop and in the staff room. Let us show solidarity and help, because the Polish community is known for always showing great warmth and kindness to all those in desperate situations!
If you prefer to donate online, we are providing a link. It has been verified and is run by the Urząd Miasta Głuchołazy (Głuchołazy Town Council).
Thank you!
